XL America Inc and/or its direct or indirect subsidiaries (hereinafter referred to collectively as "XL", is committed to protecting your personal information and other data provided to us via this web site, or via any XL online e-business applications (collectively "XL Applications"). This Privacy Policy explains what information XL collects about you, and how we collect and use your information, including setting out the circumstances where we could provide it to third parties.   2. What information do we collect and what do we do with it
    1. To take advantage of some of our services you may be required to log on or register. We need to collect information about you and your computer to enable you to do so and to enable you to continue using the XL Applications. We may use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our XL Applications. The information will be collected when you register, or when you choose to use one of the services available via the XL Applications.

      1. in the course of registering and using these XL Applications and any services offered via these XL Applications, certain information about you may be captured electronically or otherwise and transmitted to XL or and, potentially, to any third parties as set out above or to third parties who host our web servers or assist us in maintaining these XL Applications; and

      2. By using these XL Applications, you expressly agree to the collection and use of your information as set out above for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.

  5. Our responsibilities - how does XL protect user information?
    1. When you review your account information or enter into transactions, we offer the use of a secure server. The secure server software encrypts the information that you input before it is transmitted to us. To prevent unauthorized access, we follow legally required security procedures in the storage and disclosure of information which you have given to us. This means that sometimes we may ask for proof of identity before we disclose personal information to you.

    2. Certain areas of the XL Applications where transactions are entered into, reviewed or transmitted are password protected. You can help to preserve your privacy by never sharing your password with anyone else.
